My 7 Predictions For BUF Girls In 2019

Each year, since 2006, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) compiles a list of fitness trends that are predicted to emerge around the world in the year ahead. The results of which are used to assist the health and fitness industry to make decisions for growth and development. If you’re interested in the results of this survey, scroll to the bottom of this article for a brief summary. If you’re more interested (and a little excited) to hear what I predict (and hope) for BUF Girls in 2019, please read on.

  1. SELF-CARE is the new black: I predict BUF Girls are wanting to implement regular self care strategies in 2019. We’re tired of feeling exhausted, burned out and stressed, and realise the importance of looking after our physical and mental health. In 2019 BUF Bayswater is aiming to offer a range of self care opportunities – from weekly workouts, to more personal one-on-one training, to education workshops, to self care Sundays and mini retreats. BUF Girls are going to embrace self care more in 2019.
  2. MINDFULNESS to appreciate the goodness of now: I predict BUF Girls are wanting to be more mindful in 2019. We’re concerned how busy and distracted our lives are getting and realise being present in the moment is what gives life its fullness. In 2019 BUF Bayswater will continue to offer and build on our Beautiful class with Alicia from Guided Heart Movement. This class fuses Pilates, Yoga and Meditation to create one soulful and refreshing workout experience (with a nice booty burn to top it off)! BUF Girls are going to be exploring mindfulness more in 2019.
  3. Exercising to FEEL great: I predict BUF Girls will be wanting to exercise to feel great as opposed to just looking good in 2019. We’re sick of exercise being promoted as a means to chase a shallow ideal of beauty and instead want to exercise to feel happy, healthy, balanced, alert, calm, centred, strong, powerful, beautiful, unstoppable and fearless! In 2019 BUF Bayswater will continue to offer and build on our fun, high energy timetable of classes. BUF Girls are going to be falling in love with fitness even more in 2019!!
  4. Keeping it SIMPLE: I predict BUF Girls are wanting to learn how to simplify their health and fitness for the long term in 2019. We’re exhausted by all the fad diets and transformation challenges that continually fill our news feeds and are looking for ways to fit health and fitness more seamlessly into our lives (Health is forever, not just for summer after all). In 2019 BUF Bayswater is aiming to empower women with a range user friendly (and inspirational) education opportunities – from blog articles, to guest speakers, to workshops and education programs. BUF Girls are going to make sustainable health choices more in 2019.
  5. All SWEAT and no tears: I predict BUF Girls are wanting to create balance with their workout routine in 2019. Yes, we love high energy workouts that make us sweat, but we also realise training like this most days of the week can cause tears.  In 2019 BUF Bayswater will continue to offer a balance of exercise modalities (ie. strength versus cardio) and intensities (ie. high versus moderate intensity) in our weekly timetable, plus we’ll be collaborating with complimentary and likeminded businesses (ie. Yoga at The Little Zen Den). BUF Girls are going to be working up a sweat in a variety of fun ways in 2019!
  6. Saying yes to ADVENTURE: I predict BUF Girls are wanting to merge play and fitness even more in 2019. We’re bored of ‘ground hog’ days (and weeks) rolling by and want to say yes to adventure with friends and family more often. In 2019 BUF Bayswater is aiming to offer a range of active social events (some of which will be family friendly) – from morning teas, to stand up paddle boarding, to bushwalks, to city tours, to trail runs, to day trip to Rottnest and (fingers crossed) a Bali retreat! BUF Girls are going to be invited to say yes to adventure even more in 2019.
  7. Feeling CONNECTED in a disconnected world: I predict BUF Girls are wanting to spend more time with like-minded women in 2019. We’re disheartened by the disconnect we feel from living in such a digital world and realise spending more time with authentic, inspiring and supportive women (who share similar challenges and goals) is critical to maintaining a healthy mental state. In 2019 BUF Bayswater will continue to create a welcoming and non-competitive environment for women of all ages and stages of their health and fitness journey. BUF Girls are going to love hanging out with their girl gang more in 2019.
